Why do dominating companies forget the R&D process?

The problem with dominating companies is that they have the dominating elephant's syndrome. The difference between dominating lion and dominating elephant is that the elephant eats vegetables.

For hunting, the lion must rise once a day.  But dominating elephants can stand to lay all day long and eat the grass. So the dominating elephant must not even move at all. All its food comes to its mouth.

Or, if that elephant eats grass away from one place. It must move very slowly to find new grass. If there are no competitors in that area. The elephant must not run.

The problem with dominating companies is that they are losing their innovations. Those companies are just sitting down and protecting their products by using patents. Then they just don't make any innovations.

Because there is no new R&D process in the products. That those companies are making are turning old fashion.

New platforms. Like ultra-secured and ultra-fast Internet. Are Offering a big opportunity for new and more complicated web-based solutions. And the new Chat GPT artificial intelligence is the next challenger in the world of the net.

And why traditional  Internet-actors cannot answer that challenge? The reason is that their most innovative personnel packed their briefcases and moved to other companies. So because those companies are not working in the R&D section where are real R&D specialists there is no change give response to that new artificial intelligence.

All past-years prime movers lost their position because their business started to get stuck in place. First, Microsoft took the number one position from Apple, and then Google took the number one position from Microsoft.

Same way, Nokia lost its number-one place to Samsung because it didn't have smartphones. The cheap mobile phones were nice things. But then the fast mobile internet took films and other things to the mobile telephone. That opened markets to smartphones.

The thing that fell Nokia the same that pushed Microsoft out of its position is that the new platforms gave new abilities to the new products. The new mobile applications require new tools that make them more effective.

The thing that rises Google to the number one ICT service provider is the same that rise Microsoft to that position before Google took its place. The innovation that rose Microsoft to its position was great programs.

The operating system and other programs that Microsoft offered were great. But then came the internet. That opened the road to Linux and free software. The thing is that even if people use open and free tools for programming, their applications can be very highly secure. The open architecture means that the software is highly modified. And developers can customize it for each customer. The containerization makes the code highly flexible. And making personal individual solutions is easier than ever before.

The well-known search engine that used a lightweight graphical interface made that search engine easy to use in slow telephone-based internet connections. And then,

Google started to share its office package with users. That is using Google mail.

The missing network-based office solution was a problem for Microsoft.  Because, if the user wants to use the solution by using the mobile application and go from office to home.

The network-based solution offers the possibility to start work in an office and then go home. And continue that work. The thing that a person doesn't need to carry a laptop makes the network-based solutions flexible.

That is the reason why Google took its position in the ICT business. Tools that Microsoft offered were less flexible than those of Google. And then, Google started to share its Android operating system with cell phones.

But then the new artificial intelligence caused panic in Google. And the reason for that is the leading marketing position caused a situation where Google thought that it controls everything on the Internet. Same way before Google.

Microsoft and Apple thought that they owned a personal computers. The reason why Microsoft took its position from Apple was that Apple used so-called closed-source code. That meant impossible to create new programs for the Apple platform. The PC and Microsoft offered the choice to create their software for the computer by using free programming tools.

But the things like Linux and web-based applications offered platform-free programming applications. When we think about code-academy and other web-based programming applications, the computer the programmer uses doesn't matter. That means the programmer can use Safari, Firefox, Chrome, or Edge browser. The browser itself offers the window to use the web-based programming tool.

The code itself is free. And the net is a place, where programmers can make their virtual applications and show their innovations. The Chat GPT is an innovation. It's an example that the company cannot forget the R&D process even if it's the top of the business. The web-based solutions are powerful tools.
