The miniature nuclear power plants offer a modular and effective solution for power supply that guarantees electric power also in crisis. Modern society requires energy.
Everything in our world requires an electric supply. Computer base applications, like artificial intelligence, are a new and powerful tool for controlling many things, but without electricity is no AI.
Computer base -systems in civil and military technology would not work without an energy supply. Which makes energy infrastructure an attractive destination for strikes.
There are plans to make small-size nuclear reactors in Finland. The power output of those reactors is less than one big nuclear power plant. The power output of those units is about 15-30 MW class. But those small reactors can connect to series. A large number of those small nuclear reactors can act as an entirety.
If there is some kind of malfunction in one of those power units. That malfunction doesn't have so a large-scale effect on the entirety as a malfunction in the big platforms. And some of those small nuclear reactors can be in reserve.
And that thing makes them power supply units that can be optional choices for critical power supply. Those reactors can be deep underground. Also, the location of those reactors can be secretive. But small nuclear reactors can also be portable.

If those nuclear reactors are decentralized across the country. One accident or terror action against one reactor doesn't affect so much as an accident or attack against one big platform. The miniaturized nuclear reactors form modular entirety that can adjust very accurately.
The need for small-size nuclear units is noticed at least in the war in Ukraine. The power supply in crisis is critical for many defensive systems. And the small-size miniature nuclear reactors are less vulnerable to strikes against the power supply.
Small nuclear reactors are the next-generation nuclear systems. And the Ukrainian war shows how important the power supply is for the modern army and society.
Small-size, 15-30 MW class nuclear reactors can be portable. Or they can put it deep inside the ground. That means those small nuclear systems can be safe against the most of weapons. Small and portable nukes (PoNu:s or portable nukes) can play a big role in the power supply for laser weapons.
This kind of portable nuclear system can also offer power supply in natural catastrophes and remote areas. Cargo aircraft can transport those systems to the operational area. And those systems can wait in the cargo bay of the transporter aircraft. If there is some kind of problem, that aircraft must just lift off and take those nukes with them.
